Rubber mulch requires little to no maintenance.
It will stay put even in windy and rainy weather. Leaves and twigs can be easily removed with a blower or rake.
To prolong the life and maintain proper depth of rubber mulch, it is suggested to use a landscape fabric underneath so the rubber mulch will not settle in to the sublayer below and mix with dirt. If desired the rubber mulch can also be periodically raked over for a quick refresh as it will bring unexposed nuggets to the surface and also un-compact any settled mulch.
When used on playgrounds, it is suggested to periodically spot check for any visible uneven spots. Since it is a loose fill product, kids play can shift the depth of the mulch in certain spots. A quick raking will remediate any variances in levels. You may also want to mark your playground equipment during install to note where the rubber mulch meets the equipment. Annually, check this level to ensure you have the depth of rubber mulch you feel comfortable with.
